RESILIENCE DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON

With the holiday season here and in full swing, many of us often feel overwhelmed and stressed as we navigate work and family functions and obligations. Here are some great strategies to help build and maintain resilience during this time:

  • Prioritize rest and nutrition such as adequate sleep, exercise and healthy meals.

  • Simply when necessary. Prioritize! Prioritize! Prioritize! What really matters to you?

  • Be kind to yourself. If things don't go exactly as you wanted, let it go!

  • Set boundaries that protect your emotional well-being. Perhaps you need to take a break during a family gathering by taking a quick walk.

  • Make time for yourself. Perhaps there is a book you want to read or a movie you would like to see-do it!

  • Connecting with others can also be through a quick phone call or video chat not just a social gathering.

  • Remember those stress-reduction techniques! Breathing exercises help reduce stress!

  • Say NO if something is just too much!!!

  • Remember to have fun and laugh as you go through the holiday season! After all, the whole point of gathering with family and friends is to enjoy each others' company and create wonderful memories!
